Shop Update: Summery Citrus Tones

80s seersucker blouse
This update is full of summery citrus tones... with a little bit of cheery red for good measure! We're in the middle of an extreme June heatwave here in the U.K. but shop photographs have continued despite the intense weather. It's actually been nice to get some sunshine out in the yard but sitting at my computer to list the items is another matter altogether! It's just toooooo hot!

Still, there are plenty of goodies on the way... Look out for some great seventies pieces and mid-century novelty prints. I'll be sure to share them here!

Shop Update: Purses, Maxis + 100 Listings

1980s metallic patchwork bucket bag by Suzy Smith
This week, Elly Maggy Vintage reached 100 items for the very first time! Every year since opening in 2012, I have been promising to spend more time on the shop... But I think 2017 might the year that I actually do it once and for all... no jinx! These items all helped Elly Maggy Vintage hit three digits and made their way into the shop this past week.

Shop Update: Finishing Touches

1940s faux pearl necklace with original silk-lined presentation box

Sometimes outfits are all about finding the right finishing touch... whether that's a printed silk scarf or a pretty vintage necklace. So that's why I've been busy stocking up the accessories section of Elly Maggy Vintage.

From a seventies statement piece to forties faux pearls, this latest shop update has something for everyone. And for me, it's the brilliant Vera Neumann scarf. If you're a fan too, be sure to stay tuned for some special Vera-related blog posts in the near future!

Shop Update: Ruffles, gowns and designer sixties

1960s gown with full-back train by Margot Paynton of London
I'm taking this freezing cold evening to share some pieces that have made it into the shop since the start of the new year. This update has two very special 1960s designer pieces - a Margot Paynton gown with a beautiful ruffle collar and full-length back train and a wonderful knit by Laura Aponte of Rome, who designed at the legendary House of Schiaparelli, before setting up her own couture line. As always, click on the links to visit the Etsy listings.

Vintage cocktails + a mid-century home bar collection

1950s atomic shot glasses set

It has been a while since I've listed anything in the homewares section of the shop but I just couldn't resist adding these super sweet mid-century drinkware sets... Bought together, they make a pretty cool instant home bar collection!

1950s gold grapevine tumblers
I love the gold frosted grapevine tumblers and quirky atomic shot glasses... but the star of the show has to be the cocktail recipe coasters!

Mid-century cocktail recipe coasters
As always, you can click on the captions to shop the collection on Etsy. And, in case you're itching to re-create some mid-century mixed drinks, I wanted to share the full recipes with you here on the blog:

Brandy Toddy
1 and a 1/2 oz brandy
1 teaspoonful granulated sugar
hot water to taste
nutmeg

Rob Roy (Scotch Manhattan)
2/3 Scotch
1/3 vermouth
3 dashes of angostura

Singapore Sling
1-oz dry gin
3/4" cherry brandy
1/2" dash lemon juice
3 dashes of angostura
teaspoonful of granulated sugar

White Lady
2/3 dry gin
1/3 cointreau
lemon juice

Tom Collins
dry gin
juice of half a lemon
soda water and ice
powdered sugar

Dry Martini
2/3 dry gin
1/3 dry vermouth
twist of lemon peel

I'm definitely intrigued by the Rob Roy! Manhattans have to be my all-time favourite mid-century cocktail... I like mine served with a cherry and plenty of orange peel. If you give any of these mixes a try, be sure to let me know in the comments below!

Shop Update: 40s Blouses, Maxi Skirts and Gingham Prints

1940s sheer nylon blouse with pointed collar

It's hard to believe how warm the weather was last week, when I hopped out into the yard to take shop photos. It's back to grey skies and long sleeves today!
