Best of 2016

April: 50s cotton dress by Lucinda of California | June: 1940s Summer Garden skirt | May: 1950s pink cotton blouse

Happy New Year! As is tradition, here's a round-up of some of my favourite pieces that found new homes in 2016. I think my very favourite is the beautiful late 30s Horrockses fabric swimsuit which left Elly Maggy Vintage to join the collection of the world's first ever bikini museum. I hope to share a photo here on the blog... once the museum opens in 2018!

November: Late 1930s Horrockses fabric swimsuit by Martin White | July: 40s / 50s buttons bolero | August: 1970s crochet top by Lilly Gould of London

In the meantime, I'm looking forward to finding lots of new vintage in 2017 and have some exciting plans in the works for the shop... I'll be making announcements here soon!

April: 90s Kenzo jacket | March: 1970s shirt dress by Leygil of London | June: 70s wicker tote bag
September: 1930s sheer cotton maxi dress | September: 1970s Indian cotton wrap skirt | November: 1930s sequined purse

Shop Update Part 2 - Summer Separates!

1940s Country Garden cotton skirt
In addition to the lovely summertime frocks arriving in the shop this week, I have put together a mini collection of summer separates and accessories in a variety of styles and sizes, spanning the 1940s to the 1970s.

1970s embroidered tunic
1970s Californian Poppies wrap skirt
1950s Bull and Roses novelty print skirt by Pam Foster - SOLD
1950s raffia clutch
I think my absolute favourite of the bunch is the [now sold!] 1950s circle skirt by Pam Foster, who also designed clothing for the 1962 Seattle World Fair. The print features white bulls running at bright pink matador capes and brilliant big, bold roses. The skirt was one of several finds brought back from my last trip to the U.S., which are slowly but surely making their way into the shop. There are more to come in future updates. And Part 3 of my summer update is coming soon, after a wee shop vacation (details coming in the next post...)!

First Sale

A little while ago, I received my very first shop order to much excitement (and tissue paper affray!). As a hoarder of old paper scraps and postcards, I set about sifting through my collection for a suitable card to pop in with the parcel. This Marcel Marceau hat-themed picture seemed a very good choice for the fedora wrapped up inside.

Blue-papered package tied up with string.

I've been a bit quiet listing items recently but I will be adding more soon - definitely over the next fortnight. I have lots of nice new pieces waiting to be photographed and there is a particularly lovely  60s dress that I can't wait to pop in the shoppe!
